Discouragement!

I really think discouragement is another one of those great fiery darts that Satan uses to get your focus off of God.What better way to get your focus away then to put your mind on troubles that are going on in your life.

How many of us have been around someone or know someone who is always miserable and always looking at the glass half empty?

I once heard a preacher say that depression is a sign that you are carrying burdens that God never meant for you to carry.

How many of you ever read the book called Pilgrim's Progress?
Pilgrim was always looking for ways to get the burden off his back.He often was tricked or fooled into using carnal ways to relieve his burden and often ended up worse than he started.

Satan is like that.He will use every trick in the trade to keep you from going to the true source of relieving your burden and that's the cross.

Why is it such a hard thing to leave your burdens at the cross? I'm speaking to myself here. I will put my burdens there leave them for a little while and find myself picking them back up again and strapping them to my back.

The Bible has so many verses pertaining to trusting in The Lord and having Faith in God.

David had to have a lot of faith, especially since he was often running for his life from Saul and from his own son.

Abraham had so much faith in God that he was willing to sacrifice his own  beloved son Isaac.

Psalm 18: 1-3

1I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
2The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised

Psalm 9:9-11

King James Version (KJV)

9The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
10And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
11Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

Psalm 28:6-8

King James Version (KJV)

6Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
8The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

Psalm 64:9-10

King James Version (KJV)

9And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
10The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Psalm 91:1-2

King James Version (KJV)

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Romans 1:16-18

King James Version (KJV)

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Hebrews 11:6

King James Version (KJV)

6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

I will admit my achilles heal seems to always be in the area of finances. Why do I always have such a hard time trusting in The Lord in this area?

After reading about Abraham and David and so many other great men of The Bible who trusted in The Lord, it makes me pretty ashamed that I'm worried about paying my bills each month.

We all need to put our burdens at the foot of the cross and leave them there.Keeping our focus on the Celestial City and of one day inhabiting it with Jesus.

1 Corinthians 2:9

King James Version (KJV)

9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

  1. Dear Friend,
Thank you for this post. Aren't you so glad that God is greater than all of our needs. You really reminded me of that today. I needed it.
    Love you,
    Debby

  2. Hey Linn: Yes, I agree it is hard to trust God in all times especially when it comes to money and trusting in him that all you need will be provided for. God knows our needs before we do. I think for my it is the anxiety of giving it all up to him because then I have to admit I'm not in control. Hugs!!!!!
