Ariel's new page

Hello friends,Well I was trying to think of something to come up with for Ariel in terms of a page.Something that she could be involved in with others and be able to share her interests.Well Ariel's interest has always been animals they are her love and joy in life.

From the time she was very little she really never had a thing for dolls, but loved stuffed animals and caring for her various pets, and believe me she has had a whole menagerie of them.
A friend came up with the idea to create a page to showcase this love,so introducing Ariel's Ark:  https://www.facebook.com/ArielsArk

This is a page where Ariel can share her love of animals and also tell of her experiences working at the zoo.Since she's been so ill and hasn't been able to work as much this has been a great outlet for her.We are also hoping to share it with homeschool groups and use it for educational purposes.Sharing facts and information about various animals and where they live and things about them. And a place for people to share either their pets or animals they are particularly fond of.

So if you can could you please like Ariel's page https://www.facebook.com/ArielsArk ,post a picture of your pet or your favorite animal and share her page if you could. We would really appreciate it and so would Ariel.

Celebrating Ariel's 18th birthday.

Hello friends,Well it's that time of year again.Time to celebrate our darling girl's birthday. When your children have life threatening disorders you make a lot out of birthdays, because each birthday marks another milestone, another year you've been blessed with.

We tend to not have birthdays but birth weeks.Where we have like a week long celebration. It usually includes several members of the family taking that person out to lunch, dinner,a movie, bowling or something special they would like to do.

Last year Ariel had a Hawaiian party and we invited pretty much our entire church. We had 85 people at our house and it was amazing.

The gals from Blackbird Bakery in Bainbridge Island made this fabulous cake for Ariel all pro bono courtesy of Icing Smiles. It was not only beautiful but delicious.

We had tons of fun games, three legged races, volleyball, egg on a spoon, water balloon tosses you name it,plus face painting and an amazing barbecue.

This year we are hoping to top it with a pirate and princess party.

So everyone needs to get ready to don their striped socks.

If anyone deserves a great birthday this year it is Ariel.
The last several months have been sheer misery with all the procedures and sickness and hospitalizations.
No one should ever have to go through what she has these past several months.I want this really to be a birthday to remember.

We are already working on pirate names for the landlubbers and some feminine and princessy ones too.

We are having a princess boutique and The Jolly Roger tattoo parlor.

So if you're coming to Ariel's party let me know if you are pirate or princess and we will find some interesting names for you all.I also have a lot of amazing games and other things in store. It will as always be a ton of fun.I'm just praying for a beautiful sunshiny day.

Making the most of the good days, even if they're few and far between.

Hello friends,We actually had a couple of good days since being out of the hospital. As I said before I'm only posting medical things on FB or Caringbridge. To make this blog private I would only be allowed under 100 readers,so it's just easier to post those things on a format I can make more secure. One of the things that made Ariel so sad about being inpatient on Easter Sunday was not about baskets or eggs or chocolate bunnies, but missing church. She just really wanted to go to church and have her ham dinner. She can eat at times small amounts.Other times she can't eat at all.It seems to be cyclic whatever the cause.
On Friday I was actually able to go to Ladies Spark with our church. It's this crazy day long devotional, game playing, skit watching rally. It's just a blast and they are so creative in the games and things they come up with. This year the theme was somewhere in time and so I dressed up like a 50's housewife, complete with my pearls. All I needed was an apron and a vacuum cleaner.

On Saturday we had some of our dear friends come over and Ariel and her friends,Carolyne and Rebecka did crafts and we had her ham dinner, plus watched an old movie.

Ariel had so much fun,but as you can see by the picture she's pretty pale looking.I even made her favorite peach cobbler.

On Sunday we actually made it to two church services. After the first service Ariel took me out to lunch at The Victorian Rose Tea Room.

Sunday night after church we had a teen night at Dairy Queen.I think that was the after church hot spot, because atleast two other churches were there. It was a lot of fun.

It was a really fun weekend.Ariel was hurting a bit last night,so today we just took it easy, but it was so nice to do some normal things again.
